This restaurant in Hivernage has excellent decor, attentive service and really delicious French cuisine, not a cheap evening out but definitely memorable. Only open for dinner and if the weather is on the cold side make sure to book a table indoors, rather than in the small front garden.

Palais Soleiman
This is an old Palace which is truly magnificent, but the food does not match it - the set menu (there is á la carte) had excellent Moroccan salads to start, we only ordered one portion to share, so we were given some delicious side orders as well, but our chicken with caramelised pears was not wonderful, likewise the pastilla for pudding; that said it is well worth a visit for the ambience.

Grand Café de la Poste
Angle Boulevard el Mansour Eddahbi et Avenue Imam
In the French Quarter near the post office off the Avenue Mohammed V (as you would expect!) Excellent menu with plenty of choice in both Moroccan and International dishes, so a very nice pit stop for morning coffee, lunch or dinner. It is very popular so book in advance. tel: 00212 (0) 524 43 30 38 updated: May 2023 |
Le Tobsil (dish in Arabic)

Le Yacout
79 Rue Sidi Ahmed Soussi
The restaurant which is most closely associated with Marrakech, gorgeous décor, a "must see" if you have not been before. You are ushered to the roof to see the view over the Medina for your pre dinner cocktails and then served your 5 course set Moroccan menu in a really beautiful courtyard - sadly I have heard recently that the food is not good, so perhaps go for the experience! very expensive. tel: 00212 (0) 524 38 29 29/25 38 fax: 00212 (0) 524 38 25 38 updated: January 2024 |
ComptoirAvenue Echouhada, Hivernage
This restaurant is in the 'new' part of town and has stunning modern Moroccan décor. But if you don't like a live band, which sits on the stairs, playing almost next to you, go for a drink and tapas only. The menu has choices for everyone and it is not ridiculously expensive, as so often with restaurants here in Marrakech, there is a floor show around 10.15 tel: 00212 (0) 524 43 77 02 fax: 00212 (0) 524 44 77 47 updated October 2018 |

The picture on the right does not do this restaurant justice, as it is more attractive than it looks. It has excellent food and good service. tel: 00212 (0) 6 61 11 2064/00212 (0) 5 24 45 89 01 |
Nomad
1 Derb Aarjan Medina
This café restaurant is a very welcome addition to the Medina, as until now there has been nowhere to have a relaxed coffee break or light lunch, they are open in the evening for dinner but sadly no longer serve wine. Open 7 days a week. To find it, go down the Souk Semmarine from the main square, turn right to enter the Place des Epices (charming small square in the middle of the Souk) but before you turn left into the square, go immediately right and Nomad is on your right. tel: 00212 (0) 524 38 16 09 click here for a map updated: December 2023 |
Kosybar
47 Place des Ferblantiers a cote du Palais Badii If you have been to see the Palais Badii or are shopping in the Mellah, come here for your pit stop, if you don't fancy the set price menu or the Japanese alternative ask for the International menu which they seemed reluctant to offer when I was here. There is a great view from the roof. tel: 00212 (0) 5 24 38 03 42 updated October 2022 |
